Gibson invested a total of £30,000 into Manchester United.As part of his contract, he was allowed to select the team manager and as aresult, he selected Scott Duncan as the manager of Manchester United.Unfortunately, Duncan was not able to do any better to help the team improvetheir position in the division. However, thanks to Johnny Carey, who was thenew fullback for the team, the club managed to get a 14th positionranking in the division.

Unfortunately, due to the commencement of the Second WorldWar, the club was suspended again for several years to come. However, when theclub started operations again after the Second World War, it was receivingoverwhelming success in all the matches they were playing. This was in partthanks to the guidance and management of the new club manager, Matt Busby.Manchester United managed to win several titles including the FA Cup andCharity Cup during Busby’s time as manager with the club.

In 1969, Matt Busby resigned as manager for the ManchesterUnited FC for various reasons. In 1986, the club hired Alex Ferguson as the new clubmanager. Ferguson was an instant success the minute he walked into the club.
